Sheep Shearing Demonstration
We're super excited to be partnering with the Stockbridge Library for our Sheepy Summer Pop Up. On Saturday, June 11th we have a special event for you. Our favorite shearers, Siri and Colin of Yankee Clippers will be shearing a couple of our sheep. As Colin is shearing, we will be able to discuss the importance of shearing, some of the technicalities of shearing, what happens to the wool, and so much more!
Shearing times are 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.
Demos and Presentations
As sheep farmers, the protection of our sheep from predators is one of our top priorities. On our farm, we use four brave and loving Great Pyrenees: Meadow, Willow, Teddy & Hugo. Our friend Jane the Scotch Collie, from Yankee Rock Farm, will also be here!
On Saturday, June 11th we will have a presentation on the importance of working dogs of all kinds, as well as a meet and greet with Willow and Jane! At 3:oo pm, the Stockbridge Library will be hosting author Lynne Cox who will be discussing other types of working dogs!
We are fortunate to have Tammy White from Wing & a Prayer farm here this weekend. She will be doing a "Dyeing from your Garden" demo on Saturday afternoon and "Making Tallow Soap" demo on Sunday morning! You won't want to miss out on either! Don't forget your notebooks and bring all of your questions!
Kids' Crafts and Sheepy Story Time at the Stockbridge Library
Parents while you shop with our vendors, drop the kiddos off at the library lawn at 11:30 on Saturday, June 11th to listen to a Sheep themed story time and do make and take crafts!
Enter Your Handmade Items!
We really want to make this entire event about community and supporting local talent. If you are a knitter, crocheter, weaver, or felter, we would love for you to enter in a hand made piece that you are particularly proud of! We will have them on display on the library lawn for the public to admire your countless hours and skill in creating something out of basically string!
Drop off your items to me (Amanda) at our shoppe Prado de Lana Yarn and Wool in Stockbridge by Friday, June 10th by 6 pm. We will have a winner from each craft category with a prize!
